Born in an igloo, Kenojuak Ashevak spent many years on the land as her family tracked the seals and herds of caribou on which they depended. Though from childhood she had decorated sealskin bags, decades passed before she made her first print as a member of the cooperative studios on Baffin Island. From that day in 1958, she transformed the plants and animals of the Inuit world into radiant works of art.
